Bonnie has had a major part to play in the success of Cotebrook Shire Stud. We spotted her in a dealers stable on the way to the knacker’s yard in October 1997 and rescued her from certain death by paying the princely sum of £250 for her. Alistair could see that she had potential as a brood mare and thus began the laborious task of tracing her pedigree by circulating her photo and searching old show catalogues until we discovered she had been bred by Dundee District Council.
She had her first foal by Moorfield Charles (Charlie) in 1999. This was Cotebrook Loch Maree who went on to be the 2004 Female National Champion and the most successful Shire Horse this century!
Bonnie is also the mother of Cotebrook Blaven, who was the 2008 Reserve National Champion and six times Cheshire Show winner.
